COLUMBUS (Oct. 2019) – Columbus-based Producer and Director Stephanie West (formerly Steph Greegor) was accepted into the Sundance Institute Collab’s Directing and Visual Storytelling courses in December and will finish in the spring of 2020.
“These two courses will be my second and third classes with the Sundance Institute Collab program and I’m thrilled to be part of it,” said West, who successfully completed a Sundance Collab Creative Producing course in December 2019 and will begin the Directing and Visual Storytelling courses in January 2020. “Sundance Institute offers so many opportunities for emerging artists, particularly women, in a variety of ways, from its fountainhead festival to labs and fellowships. The Sundance Collab initiative is just one more way the Institute shows its dedication and commitment to diverse voices having opportunities to be heard from all areas of the world.”
West is one of 30-40 applicants from across the world accepted into the online courses. The Directing course will be instructed by Fulbright grantee and Director Julia Solomonoff and advised by Ian Hendrie, recipient of SFFILM/Kenneth Rainin Foundation Screenwriting and Development grants. The Visual Storytelling course will be run by Jeremiah Zagar, who was short-listed for an Academy Award for his film IN A DREAM.
“The instructors truly epitomize the Sundance spirit of collaboration and a giving attitude of learning,” said West. “I’m excited to learn everything I can from such decorated storytellers and my classmates from all over the world.”
West is currently in pre-production for the short film Cynisca Reborn and in development for the feature-length films The Third Period, a character drama set in the world of ice hockey; Newcross, a time-traveling thriller; Killer Pictures, a horror-thriller; and Sugar, an action-adventure drama. She has produced and directed four short films, including the festival-accepted and Emmy-nominated Olsky. She holds an MFA from Ashland University and is an alum of the New York Film Academy line producing and filmmaking courses.
West is represented by Agent Chris Reel of Adams Partners Ltd. Reel can be reached at creel@adamspartnersltd.com.
